On the Pyroelectric and Triboelectric Phenomena in Ferrofluids

Owing to the waste of energy originated by any physical or chemical process, approaches for reducing losses have been conceived and, nowadays, recovery and conversion systems represent a worldwide-recognized solution. The advent colloidal-based cybernetic highlights essential role harvesting, storage, management capabilities coped colloidal energetic systems. In this work, an alternative thermoelectricity generation is demonstrated means magnetic colloid based on Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs). ferrofluid (FF) tribo- pyroelectric features are explored in order increase amount harvested energy. findings suggest that FF shows both triboelectric charge displacement. A capacitive electrode more efficient accumulating potentials up 48 V developed triboelectricity while resistive one collect charges 22 nA, which helped estimate coefficient, reaching remarkable value 25.2 μCm−2 K−1. simplified equivalent model inductive setup proposed, suggesting increasing fluid temperature reduction inductance due demagnetization effects occurs.
